Scottish Castle Wedding of Rory and Annette

Rory and Annette

I am sure there are prospective brides from all over the world wishing they could go to a specific country to get  married, but just don’t know where or how to begin. If I told you we planned Rory and Annette’s wedding almost entirely from a field hospital in Iraq, perhaps that may make most of you feel planning a wedding from anywhere in the world is not an insurmountable task!

Both Medics in the forces,  Rory, a Naval Officer who hails from Ireland, and Annette an Army officer who hails from England,  both had exceptionally busy day to day lives,  with their pending wedding,  and Annette being deployed for several months, they both felt they needed some professional help and guidance in planning their special day and contacted us through our website.

The church was very important to both Rory and Annette, they were looking for that special old church, in its own peaceful setting and with interesting architecture, character and charm. We had knowledge of a church which dated back to 1449 and one we had used in the past, and when they saw it they both just loved it.
Additionally after considering several Reception venues, Rory and Annette both finally settled on their choice of Scottish Castle,  prior to Annette’s departure – and so we began the next steps to creating this wonderful wedding day..

Modern technology is fantastic to think  we could email back and forth to Annette who was sitting somewhere  in the dessert, with thoughts, ideas and suggestions, flower and cake scans, cars and carriages and in her own time she could then consider her options along with Rory who was equally at times in other parts of the world. In all,  the process was as easy as writing to anyone anywhere around the world, and something we are well used to.

Annette came back to Scotland a couple of months prior to the wedding which gave us time to tidy up the last minute details before the big day.
The weather was perfect, they had friends and family from as far away as South Africa – as many of their friends are currently serving in all three forces, and on Rory and Annette’s exit from the church they produced a wonderful Honour Guard as you can see on previous pages. We travelled on to the castle for the drinks reception which took place in the castle gardens while bridal photos were taken.
Everyone had a  wonderful wedding breakfast  in the castle dining room prior to an evening dance – the bride and groom had one more excitement for their guests during the evening which was a chocolate fountain …….and they say men don’t like chocolate!

From our part, a truly memorable wedding day with two very special people, how more romantic can a wedding be than a secluded little historical church, followed by a truly magical castle filled with your friends and family from all over the globe, it will be a day we will never forget, for all the right reasons!

Bride and Groom’s kind comments.
We honestly thought organising our wedding in the country in which we were living would be child's play... how wrong we were. Starting to despair and 6 weeks before an overseas deployment with the Armed Forces, we arranged a meeting with you both. Thank goodness we did. From our very first encounter, you listened attentively to our thoughts (and prompted when we seemed to lack them!) and we truly felt as though we had known you for years after a few chats. You talked/ emailed/ walked us through the very trying few months that Rory and I spent apart preceding our big day and made it all so manageable... no so much more than that, you really put the fun back into the planning. Thank you both so much Kimmie and George. We hope we'll stay in touch for many years to come and we really do think every engaged couple should have a chat to you both before planning their Scottish Wedding."
